§ About · /about
The joint is the critical site of intervention.
Open Assembly Co. proposes a different relationship between materials, objects, and users.
Open Assembly Co. proposes a different relationship between materials, objects, and users. Most furniture systems resolve materials into fixed forms. Open Assembly Co. treats furniture as a temporary configuration: something that can be assembled, disassembled, reassembled, and reconfigured as lives, spaces, and materials change.
The project focuses on the joint as the critical site of intervention. A joint can lock materials into permanence, or keep them open to becoming otherwise.
→ Standardisation moves from the material to the connection.
